Ring Etiquette
Sharing traffic with your Ring does not result in traffic loss!
- Please be assured that traffic which you deliver into the Ring-flow does not represent traffic which you have lost! These visitors are normally leaving your site, anyway.
Even at times when it might look like you have delivered more traffic to the Ring than received, Ring Membership is just the same advantageous to your site!
Even in the above hypothesis, you will be receiving an extra number of visitors that otherwise would not come to your site!
This is fact, not folklore! - How do I know? From experience and observation.
I share with all the Rings I manage, as much of MieNet's traffic (in the thousands, daily) as it is possible, so we all benefit from the flow.
And I have once taken the time to observe closely the Ring-related traffic at MieNet: I was quite surprised (but obviously pleased, too) to find out that MieNet was actually receiving some 100+ extra visitors daily, via Ring traffic!
In other words, even when delivering into the Rings far more traffic than I can ever get in return (via MieNet's menus, and links from pages where there are no NavBars – i.e., no Ring-incoming traffic), Ring membership still proved advantageous, traffic-wise!
Last remark, in this regard:
It may be helpful to avoid thinking arythmetically about Ring membership. For traffic that we deliver to the Ring is not –traffic (i.e., lost, or subtracted)! It is just the same +traffic: these visitors have already visited us. We are not losing them to the Ring!
On the other hand, traffic that we receive via the Ring, these visitors we would not have enjoyed, were not for the Ring membership. These constitute ++traffic, so to speak.
To conclude, you can be sure that, whenever your site is contributing to help the Ring grow, your site is just as well contributing to its own popularity and traffic boost!
