Ring Etiquette-1
Here is the first basic etiquette rule for all of MieNet's Rings:
The use of SCREAMING CAPITALS is not an option, whether in the Title or within the Description you submit for your site.
Of course, capitals are allowed in acronyms and the like!
|
Main Reasons:
- In respect to those who visit the Ring Hub.
MieNet's Rings are committed with offering the visitors a pleasant environment also visually – whereas sequences of capitals, scattered around a page, certainly make it an unpleasantly uneven sight.
- In respect to all Ring Members.
Why should some Ring Members have the priviledge of drawing more attention to the description or title of their pages, while other members (who would not capitalize any word for added emphasis) would be deprived of this eye-catching strategy?
Our Ring can be pleasantly successful as a small society where all contribute and profit equally, and with equivalent rights and duties.
If no one makes use of this unpleasant attention-catching trick (i.e., capitalization), every site will draw attention from the visitor based on its Title and its Description -- i.e., rather the content, not the form!
Tip: As you cannot use HTML in the description you submit, you may choose to emphasize a word or string in your description, by placing it between "*" or "_", for example. Please feel free to use your creativity and common sense, so you may add the emphasis you consider necessary and at the same time respect both your fellow Ring Members and all our Ring's visitors and surfers (upon whom we depend for good traffic!).
